The Athenaeum of Ohio/Mount St. Mary's Seminary is pleased to welcome Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, J.C.D., Archbishop of the Military Services, USA.

Archbishop Broglio is addressing the faculty on the role of military chaplains and how we can help prepare priesthood candidates for service as chaplains. Presently, three Mount St. Mary's seminarians are co-sponsored by the Military Archdiocese. After ordination, it is planned that each will serve in a diocesan assignment before serving as military chaplains.

A native of Cleveland, Archbishop Broglio earned a Bachelor of Arts in Classics at Boston College, an S.T.B. in Theology and a Doctorate in Canon Law from the Pontifical Gregorian University, Rome. He was ordained in 1977 for the Diocese of Cleveland. In February 2001, he was named Apostolic Nuncio to the Dominican Republic and Apostolic Delegate to Puerto Rico. He was ordained as an Archbishop by Pope John Paul II on March 19, 2001. On November 19, 2007, Archbishop Broglio was named the fourth Archbishop of the Military Services, USA, overseeing ministry to 1.8 million men, women, and children at 220 military installations in 29 countries along with patients in 153 V.A. Medical Centers and federal employees serving outside the boundaries of the USA in 134 countries.

Welcome Archbishop Broglio!
