Fraternity, Futbol, and Faith
10.06.17The Minor Prophets Soccer team had a strong representation this year at the Josephinum Soccer Tournament in Columbus, Ohio. With 18 players, 2 coaches and other men coming along to cheer the team, it was a fantastic weekend.
After 7:00 am Mass the Minor Prophets (Men of the Mount) hit the pitch early on Saturday against the Josephinum Papal Bulls. The Bulls proved to be a little much for the Men of the Mount to contain. Posting a loss of 2-0, they were determined to regain some momentum in the next game. The Men of the Mount then rallied and overcame the team from Cleveland, St. Charles Borromeo for a win, placing the Men in the 3rd place match on Sunday.
Showing up before dawn, the Men of the Mount wanted to be in top shape for their final match of the tournament. They sure were as they handily beat Mundelein 5-0. A highlight was a kick headed by Jacob Lindle (I Theology) to Simon Mino (III Theology), who headed it right into the goal!
The Men celebrated with a grand Sunday Brunch in the Josephinum Refectory after Sunday Mass with the other teams.
All around it was a stellar weekend of Fraternity, Futbol, and Faith.
To God be the Glory!
