Working at MTSM

Mount St. Mary’s Seminary & School of Theology seeks a full-time, experienced bookkeeper. This person works in collaboration with the CFO and President of the institution in facilitating the day-to-day operations of the Seminary, the School of Theology programs and the departments in support of the overall mission of the institution. The person filling this position must have minimum of two years practical experience with keeping accounts and ledger entries in fulfillment of the following areas of responsibility:

Areas of Responsibility

  • Accounts payable: invoicing, check preparation and mailing
  • Accounts receivable: billing, collection, recording and reconciliation
  • Deposits
  • Journal entries, monthly closing entries, and reconciliation
  • Assist with Payroll
  • Monthly Bank reconciliations
  • Maintain files of the above.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities

  • Familiarity with accounting software (Passport, Quickbooks, etc.)
  • Proficiency in MS Excel
  • Ability to effectively manage work flow and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written
  • Knowledge of general office procedures
