Seminarians Attend National Festival of Young Preachers
01.13.17Four seminarians from Mount St. Mary’s Seminary of the West recently participated in an event hosted by the Academy of Preachers. They traveled to Lexington, Kentucky, to participate in the group’s annual National Festival (January 2-5).
Those who participated included: Zach Cecil (Cincinnati), Ryan Furlong (Youngstown), Andrew Wellmann (Toledo), and Jacob Willig (Cincinnati). Over one hundred young people from various Christian traditions gathered to share the Gospel with each other. Each participant had the opportunity to preach, and Mount St. Mary’s Seminary was given the privilege of hosting Morning Prayer on two occasions.
Andrew Wellmann attended the festival last year and was once again looking forward to a great experience. Zach Cecil, Ryan Furlong, and Jacob Willig were attending for the first time and were not quite sure what to expect. By the festival’s end, they were very happy to have had the opportunity to participate.
Special thanks is owed to Deacon David Shea who prepared these seminarians to represent us so well. Deacon Shea was elected to the board of the Academy of Preachers, the sponsoring organization for the National Festival of Young Preachers, this past summer.
