On Sunday, November 5, Mount St. Mary's Latin Schola and the Athenaeum Chorale sang Solemn Vespers in St. Gregory the Great chapel at the Athenaeum of Ohio. Father David Endres, academic dean and associate professor of Church history of the Athenaeum, presided. The chorale was directed by Dr. Mary Catherine Levri, Athenaeum music director.
The musical repertoire for the evening featured settings of prayers from the Eastern Orthodox Rite of Burial for Priests. The Chorale and Schola performed pieces by John Tavener, Alexander Archangelsky, and a setting of the Beatitudes to Russian Orthodox chant. Many were in attendance and participated in this annual commemoration of the faithful departed.
