Summer 2017 Course to be offered: "The Virtue Theory of St. Thomas Aquinas"02.06.17
The Athenaeum of Ohio will offer a summer graduate-level course which will meet on Monday and Thursday evenings (7:00–9:40 p.m.) beginning May 15 and ending June 15.
Father Paul Keller, O.P., will offer “The Virtue Theory of St. Thomas Aquinas.” Father Keller, associate professor of sacramental theology, is a Dominican priest with special interest and expertise in St. Thomas. He is the author of A Lenten Journey with Jesus Christ and St. Thomas Aquinas (2013).
This two credit-hour course will study St. Thomas Aquinas’ plan for human happiness. As a systematic theology/Christian living elective, the course will investigate the virtues and vices as Aquinas describes them in his Summa Theologiae with a view to understanding how virtue theory, rather than moralism and legalism, leads to true human flourishing.
The course can be taken as a degree elective, to fulfill Archdiocesan certification requirements, or simply for faith formation or personal enrichment.
