Summer 2018 Course: "Book of Job"
02.15.18Father Timothy Schehr, Ph.D., will teach “Book of Job” at The Athenaeum of Ohio this summer beginning May 14th and ending June 14th.
Father Schehr, Professor of Biblical Studies and who served as Robert & Ruth Conway Family Chair in Biblical Studies, is an Archdiocese of Cincinnati priest with special interest and expertise in Sacred Scripture. He is the author of The Bible Made Easy: A Book-by-Book Introduction (2006), and is a popular speaker around the Archdiocese.
This two credit-hour course will ask the question, “Why do bad things happen to good people?” Many tribulations befell Job, even though he was “blameless and upright,” “feared God,” and “shunned evil.” This course will provide students with an opportunity to appreciate the Book of Job both as literature and as a theological statement about man and God, especially the problem of evil.
The class will be held at the main campus on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 pm to 9:40 pm, beginning May 14th and ending June 14th.
